For me, it was Ah! My Goddess, or possibly Otome Youkai Zakuro. (AMG was the show that got me looking at anime, Zakuro is the one that got me hooked on watching simulcasts and following each season the way I do now...)

Of the ones on the list, I would say Haruhi is a good bet. If the viewer likes it, they are much more likely to go full-on otaku! Toradora! is another good bet... and Madoka...

What about you?

Genichiro:
Interesting list, there. Eva is #1 for a reason; I won't even try to argue against it. I'm glad to see DBZ is on there, but I'm not surprised it's down so low, since it turned more people into otaku over here in the US than it did in Japan. Higurashi is a good one for the list, as is Bakemonogatari. I'm glad to see Madoka Magica in the top ten. A lot of good series are on this list; I agree with it completely.

Onion:
Hmm... I've never seen NGE.

As for Higurashi, Iwatched it with my sister to convert her. She loved it, but she still doesn't like watching anime.

I agree with Yu Yu Hakusho. That's the first anime I ever watched. Fullmetal Alchemist is also enough to make someone an otaku. Both seasons of that show are fantastic.

But what really won me over was He Is My Master, which was the first anime I ever watched through downloading means.

Genichiro:
I remember He Is My Master. That's the first anime series I ever streamed. :meaw:

Cirno:
I agree with this list; there are a lot of great series on here. Not surprised to see a lack of Loli, though.
